ENGLISHThe students explored the poem- ‘A Song from the Suds’ to strengthen their learning of poetic devices and emphasized the virtue of hard work which formed the basis of the poem learnt. They started off with a pre reading activity, where each student shared how he/she helped their parents in daily chores and thus made connection with the text. Besides the reading, comprehension and new vocabulary learnt from the poem, the students integrated it with self-expression through Diary Entry Writing. The Language, Sst and Performing Arts integration week 19th - 23rd August, got them to try writing a poem as a group task integrating with Social Science. The students composed poems on the topic of Water Cycle with a poetic touch and flair. In Grammar, they recapitulated various kinds of Tenses and further learnt some new types like Present Perfect Progressive Tense with subsequent application. The rules of the reported speech were revised to strengthen their learning of direct and indirect speech and its application. In Writing, the students revised the format of informal letter writing and compared it with the Formal Letter- its objective, differences in content and attempted to write the same. HINDI(पाठ- सरफरोशी की तमन्ना ) का पाठवाचन, कठिन शब्दार्थ और (कविता - पहली बूँद), (कविता - तूफ़ानों की ओर) के माध्यम से मानव जीवनोपयोगी संघर्षशीलता का छात्रों से परिचय कराया गया । श्रुतलेखन, कठिनशब्दार्थ, वाक्यप्रयोग , प्रश्नोत्तर आशय और स्पष्टीकरण करते हुए गद्यांशावबोधन विधा सीखी। गतिविधि के रूप में छात्रों ने संगीतयंत्रों के नाम सचित्र नाम अंतर्जाल से खोजकर कक्षा में प्रस्तुत किए। स्वरचित काव्यपंक्तियों की रचना की। पाठ के स्पष्टीकरण के साथ गद्यांशावबोधन और पद्यांशावबोधन सिखाया गया। मूल्यपरकप्रश्नों पर छात्रों ने व्यक्तिगत विचार प्रस्तुतीकरण किया। SANSKRIT(पाठ- चलचित्रदर्शनम्) (पाठ- सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः सर्वे सन्तु निरामयाः) का स्पष्टीकरण करते हुए गद्यांशावबोधन सिखाया गया। प्रश्ननिर्माण के लिए किम् शब्दरूप का तीनों लिंगों में संभाषण कराते हुए अभ्यास कराया गया। लोट्लकार और लड्०लकार का प्रयोग उदाहरणों व नियमों सहित सीखा व अभ्यास किया। पाठ के स्पष्टीकरण के साथ गद्यांशावबोधन सिखाया । गणतंत्र दिवस के अवसर पर संस्कृत छात्रों ने श्लोकगायन और मंत्रगायन के रंगारंग कार्यक्रम में भाग लिया । जो अत्यधिक प्रशंसनीय माना गया । GERMANStudents watched a video “Day of a child in Germany” as an introduction to the lesson ‘Um Wie viel Uhr stehst du auf?’. They learnt about time, difference between private (informal) and official (formal) time. Grammar concepts - Trennbare Verbs. ‘Time’ Verb conjugation related to the chapter was also done. FRENCHThe month of August, colourful with the subject integration week where children learnt the French song related to fruits. The assembly was a great success where students of grade 5 presented German song, grade 6 students presented Spanish song and students of grade 7 presented French song. More excercises were done for term 1 preparation along with audio visual of culture and civilization of France to enhance the knowledge of the country. SOCIAL SCIENCECivics: Democracy in action Students were assessed on their prior knowledge about what they already know about “Democracy”. Few guiding questions were given to them – What is Democracy? ; Why do countries choose Democratic form of government? ; They researched to find information regarding the questions given to them. Also, they were able to relate to the Student Council elections and the whole process which ensued few weeks back. In continuation, they also learnt about the role of opposition party and the coalition government. History: Mughal Empire Students watched a video related to different Mughal Rulers to learn more about them. They also studied about the Mughal administration, in which they researched to know more about the Central administration, system of governance, mansabdari system during the Mughal period. They also discussed and shared their views regarding the decline of Mughal empire Geography: Hydrosphere In this lesson, students integrated English language, music and the learning of the subject in class. Carrying their knowledge about the elements of weather, they understood the various forms of precipitation and the water cycle. They then got down in groups of 3 to create a poem on water. The inputs were collated and woven into a song with the music department a glimpse of the song for all parents to enjoy. MATHEMATICSAs a prior knowledge assessment, students discussed in groups and shared what they already knew about the basic types of Angles – complimentary, supplementary, adjacent, acute, obtuse, right angles. They displayed their understanding by making different types of angles (adjacent, alternate interior, alternate exterior, corresponding and co-interior angles) with the help of ice cream sticks making ANGLE models (integrated with ART). They reflected their understanding of the topic by showcasing it in groups and discussed about the angles. They were assessed on their model and forthcoming explanation by students on how they established a relationship between different types of angles. SCIENCEPhysics: Measurement and Motion Students researched and discussed facts related to different methods of measuring time, like sand clock, quartz watch, sundial and atomic clock. They also derived different units of time and the relationship between them: seconds – minutes – hours – days – weeks – months – years. To understand different types of motion, students demonstrated by moving in different directions and different ways So that they could relate to the particular type of motion. A relay race was conducted in their PE lesson, to understand the concept of speed. On that basis, they were able to calculate the speed of their peers and differentiated between uniform and non-uniform motion. Biology August is a month of friendship…Friendship and education go hand in hand…while studying the chapter Fibre to Fabric, and to know about the process of weaving, Grade VII students intertwined friendship bands in different weaving patterns and adorned the wrists of their friends with beautifully woven bands. The students watched the process of extracting silk from silk moths. The whole process made them think and reflect. It is strange how certain experiences trigger deep introspection. They developed empathy for the animals and supported ‘Non-violent Silk’. Chemistry With the concept of Building Better Brains, the young meteorologists of Suncity collected the weather details for a week highlighting all its elements viz. humidity, minimum, maximum temperature etc. The same was followed by an analysis that weather changes in a short period of time. It’s not same as climate. It even varies with in a day at different times and even at different neighbouring places at the same time. They appreciated the meteorologists who bring weather forecast for them, without them how will we know what to wear or whether we need to carry an umbrella with us when we head out the door The young meteorologists after preparing weather reports presented the same in the class as weather anchors. While one can use an app on the phone to find out the forecast but there's something more personal about watching it and reporting in the class. This developed their communication and interpersonal skills. ICTStudents learnt the advanced level tools of Animate CC. They learnt how to animate the shape and text, hide, show and lock a layer. They made a project to draw a line with the help of a pen/pencil. They also learned about tint tweening by creating moving text. INDIAN MUSICStudents of Grade 7, in their Indian music lessons, they are practicing their vocal warm up exercises through Sargam and singing in different pattern and different rhythm. The winners of the Patriotic song competition, practiced their song and performed during the Independence day special assembly. Students presented a Sanskrit Shloka with Harmonium and sang in different patterns. Students of Grade 6 & 7 also danced to a beautiful song “Kalbeliya” during the Independence day assembly. WESTERN MUSICIn the month of August the students learnt Name of the song: ‘Sleeping Child” by MLTR Instruments taught: Guitar/ keyboard Exercises done: practiced sleeping child with dynamic (Soft, loud,whispering and yelling) DRAMAStudents of Grade 7 learnt various forms of acting in the drama lessons. They learnt how to modulate their voice as per the character they were playing and showcased their acting prowess during role plays done in class. In sync with the theme of the month ‘Plants’, they listened to various stories related to plants and trees and understood the importance of character in the fable stories and emulated a few characters with appropriate voice modulation and expression. Students of Grade 7 performed a One Act play of Mangal Pandey during Independence Day and was well appreciated by one and all. ART AND POTTERYArt Students learnt how to draw the outline of India map during their art lessons. They have also drew the national symbols – lotus, mango, peacock, and Indian Flag using pastel, acrylic, colour pencils. To complete their artwork, they have also wrote a slogan praising our mother land. Pottery Students knowledge of the national symbols took them one step further to take clay models in their pottery lesson. They learnt how to make outline map of India out of slab cutting. They also enjoyed making a 3-D model of our national flower, Lotus. The students also made clay pen stand for all teachers to be gifted on Teacher’s Day. PHYSICAL EDUCATIONStudents were introduced to the game of Soccer. They were made to understand the basic rules of the game. The focus was to make sure everybody is able to make the right contact with the ball using their inside & outside of the foot. They were also taught about how to trap the ball properly. They were taught about the technique of how to perform a lofted kick and also given opportunities to try out these new skills in matches. They also continued with their swimming and Taekwondo classes where they got to know about skills such as bubbling under the water, kicking in freestyle, front float and kicking and self defense techniques. ROBOTICSUNIT TOPIC : BASIC ELECTRONICS - MULTIMETER
In this session student covered the basic fundamentals related to electricity. It helped students to learn about the evolution of electronics. They studied about concepts related to circuits including open and closed circuits. OBJECTIVE : To learn about the use of Multimeter, its features and different functions. Learning Outcomes
