ENGLISHIn the month of February, the students revised the topics in literature, grammar, comprehension and writing. Separate practice was done for newspaper writing, poem comprehension, notice writing and article writing. The class tests and revision tests helped students to prepare for the annual exam. The doubt clearing sessions helped them to clear their doubts individually. Peer teaching activity was done with enthusiasm and children enjoyed teaching their peers. Reading passage was also done to enhance reading habit. Students also revised for the annual examination by attempting recap worksheets and practice sessions. CHEMISTRY AND BIOLOGY: Asexual Reproduction in Plants and Revision The students learned about various methods of Asexual Reproduction in plants. They understood various terms like corms, budding, fragmentation, rhizome, tubers, bulbs and many more. Also, they enhanced their vocabulary. The class was divided into groups of 5 each for their Ecosystem Presentation. They explored ‘Then n Now’ state of ecosystems of India (Mountains), Taiwan (Grasslands) and Egypt (Desert). The same was followed by a display of work and a Gallery Walk. The students were meticulous in their presentation. With the objective of students’ better performance in the Final Term Examination to be held in the month of March 2020, revision of all the previously taught topics was taken up through various methods viz. revision sheets, discussions, Q n A and Practice papers. The importance of revision is indeed twofold. It not only helped them to remember facts, figures, topics, and methodologies but also boosted their confidence. After the revision of the concepts, they were able to easily solve the practice papers given to them. Their hands moved dexterously while drawing the internal structure of various organ systems and other diagrams. They were motivated to be more organized for studying, time-management and avoiding distractions. I wish them good luck for their Final Term Examination. SSTHISTORY AND CIVICS In the month of February, students completed the syllabus and revised and strengthened their understanding, clarified their doubts and were getting geared up for the annual examination. GEOGRAPHY: Deserts and Grasslands of the world The topic was covered post brainstorming and by dividing amongst the class questions to attempt. Each child got 1 question to find answer for and then the entire class shared their answers. Collaborative learning resulted in reduced burden where each child attempted only one question and got answers to all other questions from his/ her teammates Further they made presentations, created rubrics and assessed the ppt's of their peers as a part of their internal assessment. The energy and participation among all was palpable and the sense of taking charge made all students feel all grown up. ICTThe month was fully packed with the revision, internal assessments, oral test as well as intensive practice to develop the focus and concentration factors for long. The students were given long hours practice in ICT lab to clear their doubts and to increase their speed and performance while doing programming in Python programming language. Navras is the most important part of our life, so all the students enjoyed learning about all the 9 emotions through two different facial expressions and postures, which includes all rasas like Shringaar, Hasya, Bhayanak, Veer, Raudra, Shant, Adhbhut, Vibhats and Karuna. Recreational game- KHO KHO POTTERYThe students learnt a new sculpture technique called ‘Relief Work’, where the sculpted elements remain attached to a solid background of the same material. The sculpted material was raised above the background plane. The technique involved considerable chiselling away from the surface. The students made clay tile animals in 2D work, clay tree, flower and the full body of animals (elephant, giraffe, horse and tiger) in 3D work. ENGLISHIn the month of January, the students learnt writing the Summary of a poem. As a reference, they wrote the summary of the poem ‘The Battle of Blenheim ’. Besides understanding the structure of the poem summary, students wrote the notes and then attempted to write the summary. In grammar, they studied the concept of preposition, its types and application in various situations. SCIENCEPHYSICS This month, students revised the ‘Light’ chapter through oral and written methods and attempted an assessment on the same. They were also assessed on the basis of discussion on various applications of mirrors and lenses in real-life. CHEMISTRY Wastewater Management In continuation with the ‘Inquiry-based learning’ of the previous month on Wastewater Management, the students drafted and presented their resolution on the class. BIOLOGY Transportation in Plants and Animals Grade VII students learnt about Transportation in Plants following 5E Inquiry-based learning technique. Engage: The students were engaged in the process through a video, based on transportation in plants followed by a few questions to ponder over. Exploration: They were given white flowers with stalk, coloured ink, beaker and water to explore more about the process of transportation. Reflection: They observed the changes in the petals of the flowers, discussed among themselves and drew conclusions. Explanation: They students explained the reasons of transportation in their own way with reasoning. The facilitator guided them the process. Extension: The students extended their learning as the facilitator asked them to repeat the process with flowers having varied stalk length and find the connection. Evaluation: The knowledge, understanding and observation skills were evaluated though throughout the teaching process yet they were given a formal assessment worksheet for the same. SOCIAL SCIENCEHISTORY: Emerging Regional Culture Students were assessed on their prior knowledge about “Regional cultures.” Development of languages like Sanskrit, Arabic, Persian, Hindi, Urdu, Regional Languages (Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada) were discussed with students. They also gained knowledge about many musical modes, dances and paintings. CIVICS : New Political Formations in the 18th Century Students have already learnt about Mughal Empire. Taking their learning further about Mughals, they studied about the downfall of Mughals. They were introduced to Rise of new small kingdoms, which will be continued next month. GEOGRAPHY : Vegetation belts The students were introduced to the topic by way of a hand-out which was to be used as a base for the forthcoming lessons. Pre knowledge about the factors that determine the vegetation of a place were assessed and further discussion and presentations helped in reinforcement of knowledge. They also understood the reasons why life in various parts of the world varies from one region to another. The essential skill of collaborating to make presentations, sharing of information acquired and understanding the rubrics of the power point presentations was also a great learning imbued among the students. ICTIn ICT, the students of Grade 7 learned about creating tables in HTML, using several properties of HTML to enhance its look and appearance, changing the alignment of the text in a table. They also learned to specify the distance between the borders of the adjacent cells. WESTERN MUSICThe students practised for Annual day harmony choir. DANCEThe students learnt the basics of classical, semi-classical, ballet & contemporary dance style for the Annual Day choreography based on five elements, to save mother earth and love for nature. They learnt about all the emotions for different elements like for sky- its grandness, air- free world for birds , fire- the strongest, earth -the beauty and water- the life. Activity : Logic gates In this session, students explored the concept related to logic gates and built hardware logic circuit to understand the use of a logic circuit using a switch as inputs and LED as output. Activity : LDR In this session, students hardcover the concepts related to LDR by building a prototype circuit highlighting its function. ENGLISHIn the month of December, students got familiar with two literature pieces – ‘Leaving the Valley’ and ‘Says Dogberry to the Watch’. They first watched a video of the play –‘Much Ado About Nothing’ by Shakespeare to understand the extract ‘Says Dogberry to the Watch’. The students enjoyed this hilarious act. ‘Leaving the Valley’ was another extract which enabled the students to discuss the character of the protagonist at length and the various circumstances in the story. In writing, they learnt to differentiate between an Article and a Newspaper Report. They studied few samples of newspaper reports and inferred the format along with practice questions. Chemistry: Wastewater Management Managing domestic, commercial and industrial wastewater is indeed a major problem. The students of Grade 7 had an Inquiry-based session for this topic. They were tuned in with the topic through a video. Ms Preeti Soni, the guest speaker enhanced their knowledge about wastewater management in Indus valley civilization. The students compared the same with today’s system. They were provided with links to research and collect data for wastewater management across the globe. The class was divided into groups of 5 each to represent three countries-India, China and Japan. The delegates (students) of these countries talked about the best practices of their country. This was followed by Q ‘n’ A session and reworking on the boards made by the delegates. Biology: Transportation in Plants and Animals Peer-tutoring activity was held in the class wherein the students prepared in parts about various steps of Circulatory System and discussed with others. SOCIAL SCIENCEHistory: Religious belief and popular movements Students were assessed on their prior knowledge about their ‘Religious Belief’. They gained knowledge about Bhakti movement and Sufi movement and teachings of famous saints like Kabir and GuruNanak Dev ji. They also discussed about different saints Shankaracharya, Ramanuja, Mira Bai, Madhavacharya, Virashavas, Ramananda, Ravidas etc. They also learnt about some of the saints in their Hindi lessons, and presented the dohas and teachings of these saints in class. Civics: Market Around Us We all visit market very often in our daily lives. On the basis of student’s experience of visiting the market, various components were discussed with them. During the course of the lesson, they understood the different types of markets :- street vendors, fixed shops, weekly, general stores, departmental, shopping mall etc. They gained knowledge about wholesale markets and its types. They shared their views about the empowerment of Indian farmers and the challenges faced by them. Understanding the farmers plight, they also suggested some solutions and what the government can do to prevent such challenging situations. Geography The month was devoted to understand in depth about ‘The various lifelines of our economy’ and the means of communication. Children took great interest in sharing their knowledge about destinations of their choice by way of creating brochures and giving a presentation by becoming a travel guide for their choice of destination . They made sure that a major part of their presentation was devoted to the mode of transport used to reach their destination. This not only helped them enhance their knowledge but also hone their presentation and research skills . ICTThe students were Introduced to Python and the process of its installation. They were able to write simple blocks of code. By typing the small chunk of code at the time, they were able to understand every detail of the program that they create. They were able to use interactive and script mode to write a program. DANCEStudents learnt basics of Indian classical (Kathak) and freestyle dance form. They learnt how to emote different gestures, posture through body language and facial expressions. They also learnt guru vandana, tatkaar, Hastak in kathak dance form. To learn about expressions they practised Navras- nine emotions of dance. For more understanding of rhythm, they learnt teen taal (16 beats)as all Kathak basics are on teen taal. Apart from that, they learnt the choreography on Christmas song by the name “We Wish You A Merry Christmas(funk version)”. ART & POTTERYClay captivates a child’s interest for hours, and it has a calming effect too. LIFE SKILLFor this month, the class was integrated with Social Science. The class started with circle time. Students were asked to imagine that a genie had changed your gender for seven days. Talk about what you would do and how you would behave. Students found out circle time very funny. Students attempted a worksheet “Boys, Girls and their skills, Roles of boys and girls in family and in community. The counsellor explained how people and even they are being judgmental & stereotype at certain situations. ROBOTICSUNIT TOPIC: BASIC OF ELECTRONICS Activity 1 : Motor In this session, students explored different types of motor and working of DC motor by creating a circuit. Activity 2: DIY Motor Making of DIY motor using copper wire and magnet to study the working of a DC motor and understanding the internals of a toy motor to explain parts in it and compare it with the diagram. Activity 3: Logic gates In this session, students explored the concept related to logic gates. They built a hardware logic circuit to understand the use of logic circuit using a switch as input and led as output. ANNUAL CAMP - VISIT TO JAIPUR (26th and 27th DECEMBER)'A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimension.' They headed for the Bhamashah Techo Hub, a platform where they were awed by what they saw Latest technologies startup opportunities, a digital museum and a tinkering lab for development of products in an adaptive learning environment. The students explored the VR and AR technology through interesting games and challenges in the museum.Their curiosity and excitement saw no bounds during the interaction round. In the evening ,they visited Chowkidhani and participated in workshops led by master craft persons, saw live performances of traditional music and dance , relished local delicacies, enjoyed rides and traditional games,and got an in depth information about the battle of Haldighati. .The Kalagram was a platform for local artisans and the students made sure to visit the shops got souvenir shopping . The visit to Jantar Mantar was a treat and a window to the contribution made by Indians in the field of Astronomy. A tourist guide took the students through the collection of various architectural astronomical instruments like Sunclocks, Sundial built by the Kachwaha Rajput king Sawai Jai Singh II the founder of Jaipur.The session was quite interactive and informative. The next destination was the very famous architectural marvel, Hawa Mahal which was mesmerizing. Its unique five floors exterior akin to the honeycomb of a beehive with its 953 small windows called Jharokhas decorated with intricate latticework was worth watching. Just wandering around through Jaipur's tiny streets and alleyways was fun in itself. On the way back, the students had an interactive historical session about the Amber Fort and Jal Mahal as the drive past destinations. The journey enabled the students to explore the impressions of Rajput rule through its history,architecture,cultural heritage, cuisine ,handicrafts and warm hospitality. The core objective of enabling students to learn skills like time self management, becoming independent, handling money and effective communication was achieved when they all reached home with memories of their visit and learning, happy and waiting for more. ENGLISHIn the month of November, the students got familiar with another poem from the Literature Reader – ‘The Battle of Blenheim’. They discussed the critical analysis of a war poem and shared their views on the same through a ‘Just a Minute’ activity. CHEMISTRY Acids, Bases and Salts A litmus paper test was conducted in the Science Lab. for differentiating acids from bases. Various kitchen items were used for the same like vinegar, lemon juice, soap solution etc. They came to know that turmeric can also be used as an indicator and the process for making turmeric indicator is too simple to follow. They discussed the usage of acids and bases in various daily use items like toilet cleaners, glass cleaners, batteries etc. This was indeed an enriching and knowledgeable session. BIOLOGY The Organ Systems The human body is indeed a complex system in which there are different organ systems doing their function perfectly well as controlled by the brain. The students enjoyed making clay models of various human organ systems in grous viz. Respiratory System, Excretory System, Circulatory System and Various parts of the brain. SOCIAL SCIENCECivics Advertising Students were assessed on their prior knowledge about “Advertising” and what are its objectives. They gained knowledge about different types of advertising and the role of media in advertising. Students discussed consumerism. To learn different aspects of the advertisement, they were divided into different groups and each group got a product to prepare an advertisement to present in the class. It was an amazing and fun-filled experience for students to create such advertisements. English Post the revision for Unit Test -1, the chapter - 'Magic Bonbons' was introduced through Reader’s Theatre. Students took turns to read a part of different characters from the chapter read. They learnt to read with expression and enacted their well. As the students were reading the chapter, discussion of the content helped them to comprehend the story, new vocabulary and phrases from the chapter was also emphasized. Students enjoyed this story on 'situational comedy' and was able respond to the questions posed to them. The first round of 'Spell Bee Wizard Competition' was also held and the winners were announced in class. |

Students are practicing, स्वरतरंग in Indian music class. They have started identifying parts of the Harmonium and the Tanpura. They are also learning how to play basic सरगम on हारमोनियम, स्वरतरंग so they can play the Harmonium confidently . They are also learning सरगम and understanding how to sing in a rhythmic pattern.

Physical Education
Students continued to enhance their skills and techniques learnt in the game of Squash. They were made to understand the basic rules of the game and the markings on the squash courts. The focus was to make sure that everybody is able to grip the racket properly and are able to make contact with the ball. They were also introduced to the court movement used in a game of squash. They were taught about forehand drives and service. They were made to play with the teacher and make rallies. Students were also given the opportunity to play against each other and compete with their peers.
